Olga and her guests discussed the life in its diversity: childhood and first steps in the world of sports, work in editorial boards of different kinds of newspapers and many years spent in Television of Latvia, fateful encounters and the passion for writing. Jānis Lūsis is a cavalier of the Order of Three Stars, the most distinguished Latvian athlete of the 20th century, the winner of 3 Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals, Europe and World’s champion and the holder of world record. We would like to congratulate him for the great honour of being nominated in the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) Hall of Fame in the year 2014.

On 27th of November 2014, an exhibition dedicated to the walker’s Jānis Daliņš 110th jubilee called Daliņš golden walk was opened. It is a story of the most brilliant athlete in Latvia during interwar period, as well as about one of the luckiest finds in Latvia’s sports – in 1993 Daliņš prizes and utilitarian objects that have been hidden where retrieved. The objects where digged in 70 years ago in the land of Daliņi house, just before leaving Valmiera in 1944.

On 22nd of December 2014 a celebration of Vizbulīte Mazzālīte’s 80th birthday in Latvia Sports Museum. It gathered together relatives, friends and admirers of gymnastics to celebrate the 80th birthday of Vizbulīte Mazzālīte - gymnast, trainer, judge and secretary for sports events, author of the book Artistic Gymnastics in Latvia 1947-2001 (Mākslas vingrošana Latvijā. 1947-2001).

On 30th of October 2014 Latvia Sports Museum welcomed guests from Latvian Fire Fighting Museum. We were honoured to welcome the museum’s director Aivars Mednis, specialist of scientific research Ilze Bergmane, the main collection’s keeper Janīna Kleina. And the former chief of State Fire and Rescue Service, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Aivars Straume who has been a great athlete – medium size and long distance runner, holder of the USSR youth record during his adolescence (1970’s, 1980’s) was one of the guests.

In 28th of October 2014, the worksho0p of the heads of teachers methodical associations took place in Latvia Sports Museum. Workshop’s program is available in the website of the National Centre for Education of the Republic of Latvia www.visc.gov.lv.

On the 9th of October 2014, there was a possibility to meet Latvia’s ultramarathonists who overpowered the historical 246 km long distance from Athens to Sparta, called Spartathlon, in 26th and 27th of September 2014.

In Joniškis, Lithuania on 23rd of August 2014 the celebration of 5 years jubilee of Lithuania Basketball Museum and the opening of the book Krepšinio legendų muziejus who’s author is Leons Karalunas, the founder ant the head of the museum. On the 21st of August, Latvia Sports Museum organised a meeting with the representatives publishing house Jumava who told about the books on sports they have published so far and about their plans for future.

Along with the modern contemporary editions, visitors had a chance to see truly brilliant books of the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century and interwar period, dedicated to sports that used to be kept in the shelves of the library of Latvian Institute of Physical Education (established in 1921).
