"The uniform of a national team is an honour and a responsibility. It is a pride – you’re not just fighting for your dreams, you are representing your country, your supporters, your fans," says Ineta Radēviča, an athlete who is giving her uniform of London’s Olympics to Latvia Sports Museum and it begins the action Latvia national teams sports uniforms wanted.
During this action, all former and current athletes are called to present Latvia national team uniform – a witness of athlete’s success – to the museum. The uniforms will be available for viewers in Latvian Annual Sports Awards ceremony 2014 that will take place on 23rd of December 2014 in Culture palace Ziemeļblāzma.
Uniform of Ineta Radēviča is a witness of a real sports drama. In London Olympic Games in 2012, in long jump, she achieved her best result of the season in her first jump, but for a bronze medal, it was 1 centimetre short. "For me this uniform is a reminder of who I am, where I come from, what was I fighting for and how overwhelming the emotions of this fight where," tells the athlete, who’s list of achievements contains the title of European champion in 2010 and a bronze medal in World championship in 2011.
The action will take place until December 19 and its aim is to remind about the huge work that athletes must put in to achieve great results and win medals. All athletes – the active ones and those who have finished the sports career, who would like to participate, are called to deliver the uniforms to Latvia Sports Museum in Old Riga, 9 Alksnāja Street, until the 19th of December.
